Terry's Tales  from Edition 2 Season 2005/06      Back to Top
Welcome one and all to the 2005/06 ASCA mighty Memo Rovers Cricket Club.  We
are three days into the season for A, Bs and first day (and night) for C all
juniors and the ladies.  It was great to see the A roll Feds and
unfortunately Wests run the league and we had a "washout" yesterday. I  can
see great success on the field for all grades in the coming months. For
those of you interested training is as follows
Mon u11s 5pm
Tues seniors and ladies 5pm
Wed u13s 4.30pm and   u16s 5.30pm
Thurs same as Tues

DONT forget the ladies play starting 5pm every Thurs night at Flynn.  They
need our support

We also have raffles every Fri night at the Memo.  Without The Memo we would
probably not exists.  It is a great club with great facilities so please
support them  Thanks to Sean Tank Lynch who helped me at short niotice last
Fri. we are currently planning last years C grade presentation , albeit
finding a suitable night.. Keep tuned. If anyone knows of anyone who is
interested to sponor us in any shape or form please give them my contacts or
vice versa.

Hopefully our nets wil be upgraded ie, finished to where they are supposed
to be in the very near future.
Please all players make an effort and pay your $50 rego.  We have bills to
pay and need this money.
You are only cheating and hindering not only youirselves but your team
mates.  Do  the right thing.  See your prospective captain ,
Nick or myself.

Overall we are progressing well but need all the help with especially the
juniors and ladies, sponorship and upcoming fundrasing events.
Happy cricketing

El Presidenté Rambles  from Edition 3 Season 2005/06      Back to Top
We have zoomed through the first half of the year, well nearly...and the MRCC is travelling well. Our playing stocks have been bolstered from some aggresive recruiting and consolidation from our senior players. Our A grade has been superbly led by Brendan Smith and with consistent performers in Greg Louis, Col Cattell, Stats and boom pick up Rory Hood, look set to make a big impression in this weeks 2nd day/night match and next year leading into the finals. It was great to see the B grade record their first win for the season last week, after several excellent performances before that. Shaun Lynch is having a great season with both bat and ball as is Scott Nicolai who slapped 6 sixes last week on his way to 63. Welcome back Scooby Cameron, and for those Port Lincoln readers, Scooby wants me to let you all know that he took a blinder last week to seal the match, oh yeh, after grafting his second 30 in as many weeks. Redders also showed the value of patience and priding ones wicket. The C grade has not had the start they would have liked after last years premiership having won 3 from 8. Bowling and fielding have been good but the batting really struggles. They have a break until late Jan.

The ladies have also been firing, winning 4 from 6. They play on Thursday nights under lights in a Super Eight format. Congratulations to Robyn Ellis and all the team. Keep up the good work!

On the "business" side of the ledger, we welcome and thank our sponsors for 2005/06:

Alice Springs Memo Club
XXXX
Gorey and Cole Drillers
Mad Harrys...thankyou greatly for the Xmas gifts... very well received
Peter Kittle Motor Company
8HA/Sun FM
Peter Fitzpatrick from Outback Financial Services
NAPC Valuers... the handsome one

Please support these businesses because without them we would struggle to exist.

Remember it only costs $50 a year to be a member of the cricket club, with your weekly subs reduced from $15 to $10. When you pay you will be presented with a key ring numbered for you only. Hats, stubby coolers and shirts are available for purchase,  see Scotta, Tom or myself.

Congratulations to Annie Derham for being presented with the No.1 key ring as a long and valued supporter of the MRCC... an honour well deserved.

Raffles are run each 3 of 4 weeks at the Memo as part of our sponsorship package with each of the A B C grades responsible for a week in rotation. Please do your bit and support your mates on a Fri night ..it only takes an
hour or so, and you can have a shandy as you go. C grade this week 16/12.

This is the longest letter i have ever typed so i must do some real work now.

Please drive carefully over the festive season, win the A and B grade this weekend, be good to each other and have a great Xmas and New Year!
Happy Cricketing

El Presidenté Rambles  from Edition 4 Season 2005/06      Back to Top

To all fellow cricketers, sponsors and supporters

Well season 2005/06 is drawing rapidly to a close. Our A and u16s are currently fighting out semis for a place in the grand final. By the time you read this hopefully they have both progressed.

I have just got the scores that our A grade comfortably defeated Feds and now march into the final against RSL. Congratulations to
Smithy and the boys. Lets all make a big effort to get there next weekend and inspire these blokes to bring home a well overdue flag.

The presentation night is set for a 4pm start on sat 8th at the Memo. Wear your rovers shirt AND the loudest tie you can find for a fun filled night. See details on this web site.

Bad luck to Matt Roberts and the u16's who unfortunately went down in the semi finals. These lads have improved dramatically and already have started to produce senior quality players... Matt Nicolai and Rob Maloney in particular... well done all in the 16's for a great year.

Must go, be good and see you at Albrecht on Sat.

Presidents' Report

Welcome all to the MRCC 2007/08 season which is off in a hurry. Seniors A @ B grades have had two matches, C Grade a huge win first up, the ladies are out the blocks and all junior grades from u9s to u17s got underway in great style last week. With the number of players through 3 senior grades, ladies and 5 junior teams training is full on at the Head St nets generally from 4.30 or 5.00 pm Mon thru Thurs , so familiarise yourself with your training times and or get out and help our junior coaches as numbers across the board are great.

Welcome to all new members, players , parents/carers, sponors and supporters. For all info on fixtures, teams, results, stories and gags log on to our great website, masterly updated by Scotta regularly. ie www.roverscricketclub.com.au . Remember fees are due and payable now to your team captain/coach , Tom or myself...
u9, 11, and 13s $60
u15 17s $70
Seniors $80 which inc membership to the Memo for 12 months
It is MOST IMPORTANT these fees are paid as the ASCA has increased fees for each club by $2000 for the year so we need now to pay over $9000 in ASCA fees alone so all grades can play. This is due very shortly.

We have our band of loyal supporters but welcome new support at any time. Should you wish to become involved in our great club or know of anyone we can approach please let me know.
As you are all aware The Memo is our major sponor and without them we would very much struggle to exist...so they are the family club with excellent facilities, so please patronise as frequently as possible.....great meals, cold beer, TAB, child care , courtesy bus
friendly staff...so do yourself and our great club a favour and visit. To our other great sponors i will name and give contacts shortly...(need to compile list) and I encourage all to use their services as much as possible.

Good luck to all concerned in our endevours for this years cricket season. We had an unprecendented 6 teams in the 6 grand finals last year with 3 premierships...and the A grade robbed , but we will let that rest....so lets target 2007/08 to bring home all 6 cups this year.

Happy cricketing

El Presidenté Rambles  from Edition 2 Season 2007/08      Back to Top
To all MRCC members and supporters

This cricketing year has got off to a sensational start for our great club with ALL grades which cumulate points ie. A B C Womens u17s u15s either top or second.  Our other junior teams from u9s 11s and 13s all have good numbers and are acquiting themselves in excellent fashion.  Thanks to all junior coaches  and helpers on Sat morning.  I hear our u9s have 70% of all the participants with over 30 players each week....thanks to Muzza on sign up day and Scoobie Cameron, Scotta, and a number of regular dads and mums.....keep up the good work.
Steve Clark has the u11s buzzing, with Darren James moulding some considerable talent in the u13s. Darren will unfortunately be leaving us to venture north for work.  On behalf of the club , we wish Darren and his family all the best in their new adventure.  Darren has coached our junior teams for the 4th year now and will be sadly missed by his players and associated parents.  Thanks again....the doors at MRCC will always be open.  It looks like Muzza will assume the reigns on Darrens departure.
Rob Borgas, our tireless  u15s coach and ASCA junior cordinator continues to mould the older boys and has strengthened their numbers.
Our u17s under Craig Murphy and Scotta, assisted every week by Chris Symth need more assistance from senior players...these lads are our future.....lets get involved ...an hour or two every Sat morn to help out would be greatly appreciated.
I wont go through the senior grades results as the captains have been updating the site regularly...well done, and dont slack off.
Hoody has the A grade humming, eager to avenge last year.  The inclusion of Scott Allen has further bolstered the batting ranks and being the main council man with regards the ovals, lets see the umpires pull one over us this year.
B and C grades , although with radically changed sides every week are ascerting their influence and rest assured premierships in all these grades are beckoning.

On the social front the kids Xmas party will be on the 15th Dec at Traeger Park...get names and ages into Tom, Scotta or myself.  The Memo is a great place to drink, so get there please.
Raffles on Fri 30th. Dec 7 and 14.  Check the roster and do your bit.

We have plenty of shirt, mainly smaller sizes....but 110 hats at $15 each...see the usual suspects.  Will endeavour to get more blue shirts....please let us know if you want one...also make great Xmas presents .

Thanks to Harry Weeks who played u15s, helped out fielding and somehow got a bat in u17s, played C grade as his handsome father pulled up short (all on Sat ) and again for the u13s dev squad on Sun, who beat RSL u15s.  Great effort Hazza....Mum will wash your whites

Must go, happy cricketing
