Last game of the season, and still a struggle to get 11 on the field!
Again, with only 10 minutes to go, we had 9 blokes ready to roll. Seems that this has been the case all season, so it has stopped being a surprise. In the true fashion of the year, I lost the toss and we were invited to field.
As they finished Minor Premiers, RSL made the most of the chance of a good hit out before the GF. In between misty showers and bursts of sun, they amassed 151 after 40 overs. Some good bowling and fielding restricting what could have been a much bigger score.
We started well, cruising at 2/100 before becoming the victim of another (hopefully the last this year!) famous collapse. All out for 130.
A big thank you to young Liam O'Toole who stepped in when we didn't have enough, and ran from fine leg to fine leg all afternoon. He was also our only surviving batsman, finishing on a stylish 0 not out.
Semi Finals this weekend for A Grade and B Grade, with the C's going straight through to the GF next week. Unfortunately, Div 1 and 2 are done for the year, after their matches fell victim to the weather on the weekend.
We also find ourselves in the unenviable position of third, meaning that if this shitty weather continues and the games are washed out, our dream of 5 Premierships in a row is over.
Till next time
Scott
