Welcome all to another season which promises so much for the mighty MRCC, both on and off the field.
Our recent AGM wielded little change with Guv Scotta Cherrie and yours truly assuming and continuing our roles as the executive. Our resident historian and reigning C grade premiership captain Steve Ditcham has also come aboard to the exec ....with a medium term vision of him assuming control one day. Thanks Ditch, much appreciated.
How good was 2009/10. The four major teams all securing premierships, one day flags , and runners up in the u15s. Our ladies went done in a thriller in the preliminary final, and are keen to atone this season. If you haven't already seen our premier display o in the pride of place foyer at the Memo, do yourself a favour , support our club and admire the trophies. Thanks to big Mick Betteridge for creating the plague that proudly displays the 4 winning gf balls. Excellent effort .
The season has commenced already with rain interruptions, masters games taking its toll on some of our more mature gents, and Murph odds on to gout up again.
I will hunt the captains of each side to keep the news of each weekends activities updated. You can also plug into Mycricket for results...given some slack other teams put their portions in.
The popular Tour de Rouge is set to be a goer before Xmas, so watch this space. We have again got the day/night match at Traeger for our Xmas show on Dec 18th..so put in your diary now. This generally is our biggest show for the year, and no doubt new skipper Brendan Smith will be very keen to keep our unbeaten record intact. The way Guv carved them up in the masters , my keen eyed talent scouts are suggesting the big call up is inevitable.
Speaking of the masters, the boys kindly donated somewhere near $4000 to MRCC Junior cricket, so as we can keep up with training gear and trends. Well done to Brownlow Chris Rudd, who has managed again to smoothly enter all junior teams in their respective age level comps. I note six new coaches through the juniors will be attending the level one course this weekend. Well done and congratulations in advance to all concerned. Relics monies were used in this instance to pay for the regos for this event. Thanks again to the Rovers Relics.
We have plenty of assorted shirts and some masters shorts available for purchase. In the very near future we will have a discounted sale to clear the stocks. Great xmas presents.
Welcome to all new players, supporters and sponsors. I will very soon list all our tremendous sponsors for this season once we finalise same.
Congratulations to Jacques Van der Nest on his selection in the NT u19s side to tour before Xmas. I have no doubt the steely determination and fierce competitive spirit Jacques oozes will place him in a great position to perform at a top level. The whole club is well and truly right behind you Jacques, go for it.
Don't forget the raffle nights at the Memo on Fridays...come down have a shandy, and help do your bit for the club, selling some tickets.
Must go
Good luck to all players this season.
cheers
